Private household childcare is its own world.
Most certifications don't know that.

No handbook. No backup. High expectations, complex dynamics, and professional judgment calls that standard training never prepared you for. Whether you're already working in private households or ready to make the move, the Certified Formator™ program gives your experience the structure, language, and credential that families and agencies in this world recognize.

THIS IS NOT FOR YOU IF

THIS IS NOT FOR YOU IF

  • You're new to childcare and need foundational training

WHY FOTS EXISTS

Standard Certifications Prepare You for Emergencies.
FOTS Prepares You for Private Household Emergencies.

CPR and first aid assume backup is coming. They don't account for gated estate delays, unreachable parents, no second adult in the home, or the pressure of managing siblings while a child is in crisis. FOTS was built for that reality.

STANDARD CPR / FIRST AID

FOTS CERTIFICATION

Prerequisites: Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification required. FOTS starts where standard training ends - not instead of it.

Expert-Led Sessions — 45 Minutes Each

Each session includes a quiz. Passing required for FOTS certification.

1

"Too Hot to Handle"

Pediatric fever thresholds, response decisions, and when to escalate

2

"Just a Little Nutty"

Allergic reactions, anaphylaxis recognition, and EpiPen administration

3

"Band-Aids to Battle Wounds"

Bleeding emergencies and Stop the Bleed™ techniques for household settings

4

"Dose of Reality"

Medication safety, accidental ingestion, and overdose response

5

"Small Hearts, Big Moments"

Choking response and CPR for infants, toddlers, and children

6

"Take My Breath Away"

Respiratory distress — asthma, RSV, croup, and airway obstruction

7

"Speak Life"

Communicating with 911, EMS, and parents during a pediatric emergency

STANDARD CPR / FIRST AID

Scenario-driven training for the unique emergency challenges of private household caregiving

FULLY VIRTUAL

Two Experts. Every Session.

Pediatric Clinician

Brings the medical knowledge — what's happening in the child's body, what the symptoms mean, and what the clinical response requires.

Experienced First Responder

Brings the real-world response — what to do with your hands, how to stay calm, and how to act effectively before EMS arrives.

Nationally Recognized Credential

The FOTS Pediatric Emergency Care Certification is a verifiable credential that signals advanced readiness to families and agencies.

THE NEXT LEVEL

Where Certified Formators™ Go Next

The Master Formator program is the advanced pathway for Certified Formators™ ready to lead teams, manage household operations at scale, and coach other caregivers - including a pathway to serve as an Institute Consultant.

Prerequisite: Certified Formator™ credential

Master Formator Program

Advanced cohort-based training for practitioners ready to lead, manage, and mentor

Unlike the self-paced Certified Formator™ course, the Master Formator program is largely delivered through live coaching sessions and structured group work - building leadership capability through practice, not just content. The program culminates in a capstone project in which participants apply their learning to a real household system or team challenge, demonstrating readiness for senior and consulting roles.

In-Home Childcare Team Management

Lead multi-caregiver teams with consistent standards, clear communication, and professional structure across staff transitions.

Professional Development Coaching

Apply the Formator Method to support other caregivers' growth, including the compensated mentorship model offered through The Formator Institute.

Capstone Project

Demonstrate mastery by applying your learning to a real household system or team challenge - the final requirement for the Master Formator credential.

Household Operations Leadership

Manage complex household systems - schedules, protocols, property transitions — as a senior operational presence in the household.
